Chansons sans paroles

Thom Luz

Chansons sans paroles

At night, in a dark forest, a car runs off the road after hitting a deer. Romantic melodies come out of the radio of the still smoking wreck. The Swiss director and musician Thom Luz composes a new theatrical and musical reverie for a disaster foretold.

On stage, piece by piece, sound and illusion artists meticulously reconstruct the accident with the help of an electric chamber music trio that gives unexpected vibrations to Mendelssohn's Songs without Words, piano pieces.

How did we get to the point where we hit the wall? How can we talk about the shock and the stupefaction, about the need to change perspective, to reconstruct the present in order to think about the future? If words are not enough, sounds and images touch us when this musical and visual representation of the catastrophe is delicately elaborated and the car's headlights continue to light up the night.

Thom Luz

Thom Luz était également chanteur et guitariste du groupe My Heart Belongs To Cecilia Winter. À Vidy il a présenté When I die - a Ghost Story with Music, et Unusual Weather Phenomena Project dans le cadre des Programme Commun de 2015 et 2016, et Girl from the Fog Machine Factory en 2019.
