But who is Goldilocks? Innocent lost rambler or mischievous thief? And this family of bears – are they loving or selfish? The tale is open to all kinds of interpretations.
But who is Goldilocks? Innocent lost rambler or mischievous thief? And this family of bears – are they loving or selfish? The tale is open to all kinds of interpretations.
Alain Borek invites us to replay it together, scene by scene, according to your choices, in the manner of an interactive theatrical-video game. The morals of the story may well surprise you – what do you say?
The tale is indeed surprising: a young blonde-haired girl, lost in the forest, unexpectedly enters a secluded house, eats what she finds, breaks a chair in the process, and finally settles into a bed. The owners of the house – who happen to be bears – return home, find her asleep, and the girl ends up leaving, chased and/or frightened. Whatever the version of the tale, the moral of the story is uncertain, to say the least... What is this strange hospitality? Is the girl afraid of those who are so different from her? Or is she wandering around without a home, and are the bears unwilling to accept the young migrant?
Alain Borek, Marion Chabloz and Baptiste Gilliéron, seasoned in the techniques of theatrical improvisation, turn this into a story of choice. In a device inspired by video games, they invite you to determine who the protagonists of this surprising story are, and to decide on their reactions: the performers will adapt the scenes according to your choices. Each stage of the tale becomes an opportunity to reflect on hospitality and its implications, through the collective and playful setting of the scenes. Whether you choose Goldilocks or Little Bear – will you find a less ambiguous ending?

Director
